Samsung Galaxy S III Tops iPhone As Best-Selling Smartphone

Galaxy sold more than iPhone 4S in third quarter.

Looks like those funny commercials are working.

Strategy Analytics reports that the Samsung Galaxy S III outsold the iPhone 4S in the third quarter (July to September 2012) making it the highest selling smartphone on the market.

The Galaxy S III shipped 18 million units worldwide, compared with 16.2 million for the iPhone 4S. 

The win is expected to be short-lived as it's being reported that the reason the iPhone 4S slumped in sales that quarter was because customers were waiting for the iPhone 5. When it was released in September, the iPhone 5 sold five million in one weekend.
