More than a dozen injured in violent Sunday evening twister
If anyone wasn’t watching the Grammy Awards on Sunday, south Mississippi residents certainly weren’t. More than a dozen of them were injured after a violent tornado touched down in Hattiesburg, moving along one of the city’s main streets. Officials were not aware of any deaths. Downed tress, damaged roofs and power outages were reported late Sunday night. Emergency management officials expected to get a better picture of residential damage at daylight. The University of Southern Mississippi also suffered damage, but no students or staff were reported injured. School officials are asking anyone who is away from campus to stay away until further notice. (Associated Press)
