Starbucks Announces $1 Reusable Cup

In attempt to go eco-friendly
Starbucks is now offering a $1 reusable plastic cup to customers in hopes of curbing its environmental impact. The cups will resemble the papers ones with the company's trademark mermaid, but can be brought back to the store for refills. In 2008, Starbucks announced its goal to have 25 percent of its beverages served in reusable cups by 2015; the plan stalled as, by 2011, just under 2 percent of drinks were served in reusable mugs. The company has since modified its goal to a more modest 5 percent. The new $1 cup is being introduced in all U.S. and Canadian company-owned locations. Now customers just need to remember to bring them back after buying them. (Today)
