A Wisconsin freshman is suspended after what he thought was a joke.
A high school freshman in Wisconsin has been suspended for giving a noose and “KKK” symbol to a Black female classmate. Principal Eric Russell of Baldwin-Woodville High School said the students were in art class and “a little macramé noose was made, and some kind of KKK (Ku Klux Klan) symbol.” He called the behavior “absolutely not acceptable.”
The 15-year old girl is one of three black students at the 450-student school and has been the target of racist bullying in the past. Sarah Hitzeman, who is adopting the young girl, told Minnesota’s Star Tribune that her freshman year “started out with students calling her ‘Big Mocha’ and making fun of her hair and breasts.”
The school wouldn’t say how long the unnamed boy's suspension will last. (NY Daily News)
