TD Jakes Tells Oprah He Deserves A Rolls Royce

Megachurch preacher doesn't shy away from wealth

TD Jakes and other super successful preachers like him have been catching flack for years about how they flaunt their riches, or "God's goodness" as they like to say. In defense, rich preachers of the world ask "who said I have to be poor?" 

Jakes goes one step further and asks "can't a black man get money anymore?" In an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN network Jakes says that people shouldn't be so concerned with why he has a Rolls Royce, a private jet and the entire Steve Harvey suit collection. Ok, we added that last one but you get what we're saying.

“Listening to the sermon today, I understood very clearly that God doesn’t bless you and say, ‘Enough!’” Oprah said after attending one of Jakes' sermons. “He allows your cup to runneth over.”

Jakes, responded "I don’t think the issue with clergy is what you drive and where you live, it’s more how you got it,” Jakes responded. “If you got it abusing and breaking the backs of people it’s a bad thing. If you put yourself before the congregation, that’s a bad thing."

He continues, "A lot of times people will look at people like me, but they really need to look at people who have 20 members and drive a Rolls [Royce].”

Guess that settles it. 

Oh yeah, when did Oprah start going to church?
