Terrell Owens By The Numbers
T.O.'s life is looking TKO'ed
With Super Bowl Sunday coming upon us, we realize we are coming to the end of a football season that almost didn't happen. Men all over the country were losing their minds at the thought of not having any football to watch this fall and winter. But no man was losing his mind more than Terrell Owens. Once a fixture on thee highlight reels Owens became headline fodder this past year as he sat by his phone this season waiting for an NFL team to give him a call and hopefully a job.
It never happened.
Owens made it to the Super Bowl once in his illustrious career as member of the 2004 Philadelphia Eagles, who lost to the New England Patriots. Ever since that year as an Eagle, it seems like Owens career stopped soaring and began nose diving.
In his 14-year NFL career Owens put up Hall of Fame numbers but now the numbers he's known for are better suited for the Hall of Shame. Here are a few of them.
Owens most recent brushes with bad luck seemed to start in 2011 when he was cast as a special guest on Vh1's Single Ladies. He is rumored to have hurt himself during filming and attempted to keep the injury a secret, fearing that NFL teams would shy away from offering him another contract. For what its worth, his romantic interest on the show was played by Stacey Dash who suffered a career-threatening injury of her own, she was fired from the show.
Athletes get injured all the time. Why would T.O. be so scared that he's attempt to conceal his? It's because he's 38 years old, which is considered past-your-prime in the NFL. Actually, that may be considered past-your-prime at the gym too, but you get what we're saying. While Owens appears to be in excellent shape and promises that his injury is completely healed, the fact remains that he played and got hit in the NFL for 14 years. The average career span of a wide receiver is less than three years. So it's a blessing that he even lasted this long.
Getting hit by large men takes a toll on the body after a while, which is why so many turn to pain killers to deal with the aches of their labor. T.O. has reportedly been rushed to hospital twice on account of over doing it with pain killer. Once in 2006 doctors said that he took 35 pain killers. And as recently as last October he was rushed to the hospital again after overdosing.
T.O. child support struggles have been in the news for quite some time too. He reportedly has four children by four different women, three of which have sued him for unpaid child support. He'd been trying to get the payments lowered since he no longer makes upwards of $12 million a year. As of now, he is currently forking out $44,600 a month in child support. Not a year, a month. That's almost $11,000 a head, roughly $366 a day being spent per kid, per day. Yeah, we'd probably be crying too.
80. That's how many millions Owens has reportedly "blown through" over the last 16 years. He tells GQ Magazine that these days he is friendless, broke and "living in hell." 80 is also the number on the back of his jersey these days. While the NFL never called him, the Indoor Football League did and he is now a member of the Allen Wranglers. In addition to playing for the team, he has also reportedly been made a co-owner as well.
