Tom Joyner On Tavis: Stop Trying To Be MLK

Radio show host calls out Smiley on Obama Remarks

Not a day goes by without either Dr. Corner West or his partner Tavis Smiley having something to say about President Barack Obama. But now another voice has come up to say something against Smiley's, and it's Tom Joyner.

In an editorial he wrote for his BlackAmericaWeb.com site, The "Fly Jock" goes at Smiley saying:

Tavis has done a lot of good things but his obsession with becoming great is destroying him. 

The remarks come after Smiley blasted the notion of Obama being compared to Martin Luther King, Jr., and on top of that using his bible to be sworn in at the inauguration. 

He continued, "I believe that Tavis is the one fascinated with Dr. King’s legacy, but more importantly Tavis is fascinated with his own legacy, and that’s not good. He wants more than anything to be remembered the way Dr. King was, and to some how make that kind of mark on the world."
