Twitter Attacks Toure Over Trayvon, Zimmerman Jokes

Go-to pundit apologizes for bad humor
Ever the provocateur, Toure has again found a way to get people talking.
The author of "Who's Afraid of Post-Blackness?: What It Means to Be Black Now" took to his Twitter page earlier today to give his latest two cents on the tragedy surrounding the Trayvon Martin case.

Hoping to make a joke out of the serious situation, Toure tweeted: "New slang! You're Zimmermanning Me = You're Killing Me."
Almost immediately, people started attacking him on Twitter. Some even created hashtags like #UnfollowToure, #BlockToure and #NoCountryForToure. Among the other insults hurled his way were "Toure types in Blackface" and "Toure is Bill O'Reilly's ghostwriter."
Feeling the backlash, Toure tried to apologize and even flexed his extensive vocabulary (as only he can) in the process.
"Saying 'You're Zimmermanning me' to mean 'You're killing me' was not intended as a simple joke. It's tragicomedy, people. The blues," he said. "I tried to continue the attack on Zimmerman. Sorry if that got lost in a bad tweet."
