With 2011 drawing to a close twitter cranked out one last hashtag for everybody to on. #2011in3words. Simple enough right? We here at Loop 21 wanted to join in on the fun too and bring you some of the highlights of twitter, in three words.
 

That. Sh*t. Cray.

Up until this year Kanye West's most memorable quotes were something about George Bush not like black people and Beyonce making better music videos than Taylor Swift, and Michael Jackson for that matter. But thanks ot he and Jay-Z's hit song "Niggas In Paris" a new word was entered into our vernacular. Cray. Yes, grown ass people from coast to coast were using this word as if it was a real one. Thanks Kanye.

Free. Him Again.

This year we saw a lot of people tweeting about their favorite celebs being in jail. Some were already in there, some were returning. But none of them were forgotten thanks to the many #Free {Insert Name Here} hashtags. Whether it was T.I., Gucci Mane or Lil Boosie, people tweeted that they should be free as if were Mumia himself. At least we didn't see any #FreeSandusky tweets.

Too.Much.Doubt.

In the fall we saw the state of Georgia possible execute an innocent man. Troy Davis' saga began in the late 80's long before a twitter even existed. But thanks to social media awareness spread about his case like never before. Eventhough supporters didn't get the outcome they hoped for, it did show that people can at least act like they care about justice every once in a while.

What. Is. Planking?

We're still trying to figure this out without sounding too silly. All we know is that people found time in their busy days to find random places to perch on top off with their hands pinned to their sides and legs extended straight out. Everyone from your neighbor to your favorite celebrity was in on the craze. Fortunately, "owling" didn't catch on too fast.
