It's a costly obsession

Americans are spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, a year on Apple products and their add-ons. Replacement costs for lost or broken equipment, iTunes downloads for music, movies and games, and subscriptions and accessories have led U.S. households--equipped with a median income of $50,054--to spend an average of $444 on Apple products this year. In 2010, it was $295. Back in 2007, it was only $150. And if Apple rolls out its own HDTV, as expected, annual Apple spending by households could double to $888 by 2015. For the fiscal fourth quarter, Apple earned $8.2 billion; up from $6.6 billion a year earlier. (NBC News)
