Vagina Bleaching Ad for "Clean And Dry" Cream in India Stirs Controversy
Ad shows man not interested in woman because her vagina isn't light.
India seems to be the home of advertisements that involve skin bleaching the most, as we have seen many examples in years past.
Now, a new ad is sparking controversy in the country that has to do with the female genital area.
A new advertisement for "Clean & Dry Intimate Wash" skin-whitening gel shows the boyfriend of a young woman seemingly disinterested in her. The commercial then cuts away to a woman using the product. When the commercial comes back to the couple, they are both romping in the bedroom.

The product reportedly makes your skin "numerous shades lighter."
The ad immediately sparked a backlash online starting with a Wall Street Journal op-ed by Rupa Subramanya, who labeled the concept of genital whitening "the ultimate insult."
Skin whitening creams are big in India as its caste system identifies being poor with darker skin.
Clean and Dry has yet to release a statement on the backlash.
