Will.i.am Carries London Olympic Torch While Live Tweeting
Become 109th runner to take part in 70-day, 8,000 mile torch relay
With the London Olympics fast approaching, American pop star Will.I.am managed to score the opportunity to run a mile with the Olympic torch through a London town.
The 37-year-old kept his fans abreast of his torch run through Twitter updates by the minute.
"#TWEETtheTORCH thank you coca.cola for this once in a life time experience to come to taunton and #runthetorch," tweeted Will.i.am. He also added more tweets throughout the race.
"Crazy energy in the UK. Its nuts here in taurton...so much excitement...#runningthetorch."
Will became the 109th runner to take part in the 70-day 8,000 mile torch relay. All torch runners are able to keep and sell their torch but Will.i.am said the prized torch will be going straight to his house.
He even performed a moonwalk as the crowd roared near the finish line.
"I moonwalked on the torch run. I was thinking `me and Michael' ... I don't want to Tom Jones it right now," he said. "Me and Mike were really close and he would have been proud that I ran the torch, so I thought why not moonwalk it a couple of steps while running with the torch."
