Working From Home Can Mean More Productivity
2 months ago
Sorry, Yahoo!
Companies that allow telecommuting and other flexible work policies are seeing greater productivity than those that don't, according to human resources experts. Though Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer recently made headlines for forbidding her employees to work from home -- explaining that “speed and quality are often sacrificed" -- for other American companies, telecommuting has become a critical force in boosting worker productivity and growing profits. They're focusing on how well employees get their job done rather than where. “Everyone knows what they have to do to cut it. But people treasure this flexibility to the point that they will give their all to continue to work in an environment that allows that," said Delta Emerson, chief of staff at Ryan, LLC, the seventh largest corporate tax services firm in the U.S. “We don’t see this trend going away. This is the way that work will get done in the future," said Michael Aitken of the Society for Human Resource Management. (Today)
