Up and Away
What happens to a dream deferred? Try, try again. At least, that’s what 39-year-old Jonathan Trappe did.
Using a cluster of helium balloons, Trappe tried to navigate the world. Starting in Maine, Trappe gathered 370 balloons and planned for 2 years, then set off for France.
Of course, what goes up must come back down. Actually, in Newfoundland.
While he didn’t make it across the Atlantic, in 2010 he managed to cross the English Channel with help from his balloons.
Disappointing to say the least, there is a silver lining in his story. While 5 people have attempted to cross the Atlantic and have died because of it, Trappe managed to land safely.
Would you want to travel by balloons? What do you think of Jonathan Trappe’s adventure?
