No Surprise Here: Realistic Optimists Are More Successful
Thinking realistically and positively can help you in all aspects of your life.
If you often “hope for the best and prepare for the worst” when you make a tough decision, you just may be a realistic optimist.
A new study done by Sophia Chou, a psychology researcher at the National Taiwan University, found that those who have positive outlooks on life while also thinking like a pessimist tend to have better personal and professional lives. These “realistic optimists” have the best of both worlds, often approaching situations, both in work and in life, expecting a positive outcome while also understanding that the result may not always be positive.
