Understanding The Woody Allen Scandal
What we know about the Woody Allen scandal so far
Since receiving the Cecil B. DeMillie Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Golden Globes, it seems as if the accusations against Woody Allen made by daughter Dylan Farrow are growing stronger by the day. We’ve heard the sexual abuse allegations for decades now, and while no one but the parties involved know what truly happened all those years ago, what we do know is this:
Woody Allen left Mia Farrow to marry her adult adopted daughter, Soon Yi Previn.
In 1992 Mia Farrow accused the acclaimed actor/director of molesting their adopted daughter. These claims arose during a vicious custody battle. Allen denied the accusations.
It was soon revealed that a Yale-New Haven Hospital medical team found no evidence of molestation and no charges were ever filed against Allen.
Mia Farrow and son Ronan took to twitter expressing their disgust for Allen during this year’s Golden Globe Awards, which honored Allen’s career.
Dylan’s dismay for Allen was apparent in Nicholas Kristofs’s column in The New York Times, where she called out most of Hollywood for celebrating a man who she considers a pedophile.
Most recently, Dylan’s brother Moses Farrow is now defending Allen by saying, “Woody Allen did not molest my sister.”
Sexual abuse of children is nothing to be joked around with and we can only hope that all parties involved will receive the necessary healing and or treatment needed to move forward.
