Who’s Likely to Receive Medicaid?
Some states are refusing to expand Medicaid benefits, but who are they actually denying?
While it’s expected that by 2022, 13 million Americans will be eligible for Medicaid in states that are opting to expand, many of these eligible are expected to be younger adults.
Current demographics of Medicaid recipients are 39 year old white women – most likely due to pregnancy.
In a recent study, it was concluded that if all states decide to provide extended coverage, the average recipient would be 36 year old white women and men.
What do you think of the new demographic?
