Why is America so Giving?
While The Great Recession is upon us, numbers are still rising for three years and counting, as far as giving goes.
Americans hit an all-new high of giving $306 billion to charities last year. Not only that, but $171 billion worth of volunteer hours were also contributed.
The generosity is apparent as Americans work to help each other during these trying times of The Great Recession.
Who is to thank for this grand gift of giving?
Baby boomers, currently.
"Boomers began to contemplate retirement and how to fill all those empty hours."
Charity organizations are monitored through sites like that of charitynavigator.org and givewell.org, which rate effectiveness and expenses for those looking to give.
Are you surprised that Baby Boomers are to thank for America's generosity?
