Why Don't Minorities Make Craft Beer?
We're pretty sure people of color make craft beer, but where are they?
Whether you like it or not, we seem to live in a foodie culture.
As such, there’s a heightened interest in craft beers. What’s missing is the diversity of people who make the beer.
Black, Latino, and Asian Americans tend to be the least represented in the brewing community.
Of the estimated 2,600 breweries nationwide, there are only a handful of brewers who aren’t white males.
Still, there are several commercial brewing companies owned and operated by minorities.
Carneros Brewing Company, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, BJ’s Restaurants, and Harlem Brewing Company are all committed to providing craft beers everybody can enjoy.
What do you think is the cause for this lack of diversity?
