Mary J. Blige to Play Which Legendary Leader's Wife on Screen?
Will she be able to pull it off?
Mary J. Blige's acting career is kicking off. Having already landed a spot in the ensemble cast of the upcoming musical film "Rock of Ages," the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has set her eyes on another project.
She will play the role of Dr. Betty Shabazz, the wife of Malcolm X, in the upcoming TV film “Parallel Lives," according to EurWeb.
The movie follows both Shabazz and Martin Luther King's wife Coretta Scott and the relationship they shared as the wives of two slain civil rights icons.

Considering Angela Bassett slayed that role alongside Denzel Washington in the 1992 biopic helmed by Spike Lee, Blige has got quite a lot of work to do to make the role her own - successfully.
In addition to “Parallel Lives,” which will begin filming in September, Blige is also scheduled to play jazz and blues legend Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic.
