"The Help" Sweeps Up At 2012 NAACP Image Awards

Davis and Spencer take home outstanding actress wins

The Help continued it's sweep during awards season, as it took the lion's share of statues at Friday's 2012 NAACP Image Awards. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer took home their rewards (for Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress), as well as Outstanding Motion Picture. 

In her acceptance speech, Davis said, "I wanted to tell the truth, not revise it or erase it." She then went on to say the role helped her to emerge and find her voice.  

Pariah, the breakout indie hit about a teenage lesbian finding her sexual identity won "Outstanding Independent Motion Picture."

Other winners included Laz Alonso for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture and Mike Epps for Outstanding Supporting Actor for the romantic comedy Jumping The Broom.
