Olympic Medal Makes Williams one of the Game’s Greatest
Serena Williams bested rival Maria Sharapova to win an Olympic gold medal and a place in history. Williams becomes the first American woman to win the so-called “Golden Slam,” which means every major grand slam tennis event (Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open and the Australian Open) along with an Olympic gold medal. Her impressive list of 29 grand slam wins, including another Wimbledon last month, has already established her as one of the greatest tennis players ever. Her Olympic win now puts her in a league of her own. Read more about Serena’s historic feat here.
