Artur Davis To Consider Virginia Senate Run As A Republican
3 months ago
The former Alabama Democratic has his eyes set on a new career as a Republican.
According to three Republicans close to the matter, former Alabama Congressman Artur Davis still has hopes of a career in the the Senate or Congress, but this time as a Virginia politician. Davis reportedly met with a Virginia consultant and spoke with former Republican congressman Tom Davis about the viability of running for state Senate in 2015 or seeking a House seat.
The news of his pursuit doesn’t come as a shock for many in Washington, as Davis moved to Virginia and switched to the republican party last year—following a loss for his bid for governor of Alabama. Davis may be considering the seat of Frank Wolf (R-Va) or Dave Marsden (D-Fairfax) depending on how the new Senate map pans out. “He would be a very strong candidate for anything he wants to do, and I think right now he’s earning his stripes,” Tom Davis said.
