Colin Powell Backs Obama -- Again

The moderate Republican and former secretary of state says the president is moving the nation in the right direction

Gen. Colin Powell, who served as U.S. Secretary of State under Republican President George W. Bush, announced his support for the re-election of President Barack Obama during an interview Thursday with "CBS This Morning."

Powell, who also endorsed Obama four years ago, said the country is headed in the right direction under Obama's leadership.

“Housing is starting to pick up after four years," Powell said. "Consumer confidence is rising. Generally, we’ve come out of the dive and are starting to gain altitude. It doesn't mean problem solved ... but I see that we are starting to rise out. ... I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on."
