Conservative Conference Gets a Bit Crazy

Does the CPAC Show Republicans' Hidden Prejudices?

Republicans gathered in Washington this weekend for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). And it’s been a rollercoaster of crazy interviews, speeches and entertainment.

Obama has been a constant punching bag (but that was expected). Then, there was the “My America” rap by Steve Crowder, a contributor to Fox News and comedian, and Chris Loesch, the husband of conservative commentator Dana Loesch, that came off quite offensive to the African-American community. So much so that one of the black technicians walked out on the performance.

But that was only the beginning. Well into its third day, some of the highlights coming out of this conference make Republicans like look a bunch of lunatics, and some might even say prejudice.

Here are some videos highlighting the crazy things to come out of the CPAC so far.

Michelle Bachman’s fear mongering in this video is absurd. During her interview she talks of Iran having weapons of mass destruction that need to be obtained, the United States becoming a highly dangerous place if Obama wins reelection and calls the President the most dangerous commander-in-chief the U.S. has ever had! No joke, these are her exact words.

Foster Friess, the billionaire investor backing Rick Santorum’s campaign, introduced the candidate at the CPAC by opening up with a dish to Mitt Romney, then going on to say the Democrats have won presidential elections by bringing “fresh faces” like Carter and Clinton “from out of nowhere”… “they bring Obock Obama from beyond nowhere.” No, that’s not a typo. The governor doesn’t see it fit to address the President by his proper name. And where is “beyond nowhere?” Obama didn’t fall out of the ski. He submitted his birth certificate for God sake.

Entertainment at the CPAC has been … well … entertaining for lack of better words. The CPAC closed out their first day with a conservative comedian, who ranted about the dangers of car safety measures like seat beats and airbags. “We got to make it dangerous to drive again” … Whaat??? The audience actually applauded this performance.

According to former SNL and Tea Party supporter Victoria Jackson, this country’s next president should be Bob Dylan and the “brunette lady who sang with him that he slept with a couple of times,” who can make conservatisism sexy. We guess this is the CPAC way of reaching the younger voters and getting the message out there.

Well, deficit sure was not a problem during their 8 years of utter destruction. Jon Stewart even played back them stating it was "healthy" and not a problem at all. 2012 Elections: Flip those floppers!!
