Incoming leader says there is work to be done to solve troubles of the West African power
President Barack Obama isn’t the only black leader being sworn into office this month. John Dramani Mahama on Monday was sworn in as Ghana’s next president, following a hotly contested election last month. In his inaugural speech, Mahama said “we all have a role to play” in making the country better. He also acknowledged unspecified troubles facing on of West Africa’s most stable democracies. Mahama took over the presidency for President John Atta Mills, who died unexpectedly in July. Mahama’s win, with a 50.7 percent majority, is being disputed by his opposition in the nation’s Supreme Court. (Associated Press)
