GOP Claims Voting Machines Are Stealing Votes For Obama
6 months ago
They reportedly have no evidence.
Republican National Committee chief counsel John Phillippe wrote a letter to GOP officials in Kansas, Nevada, Ohio, Colorado, North Carolina and Missouri claiming that voting machines in those states are malfunctioning, giving errant votes to President Obama.
The letter reads:
"...in a significant number of cases, voting machines in your states have populated a vote for Barack Obama when a voter cast his or her ballot for Mitt Romney.”
Think Progress points out that the letter is also missing evidence of such malfunctions and failed to produce any testimony from voters any such thing happened.
Nevada journalist Jon Ralston, feels that the empty claims are nothing more than a set up for GOP challenge down the road.
“I have no doubt the RNC is laying the groundwork for a challenge should the presidential race be close here or in some of other states where these ‘significant’ number of instances have occurred," he tells Think Progress.
