Clinton Romesha is recognized for his fight against Taliban

President Obama will award the Medal of Honor to a former active duty Army sergeant on Monday. Clinton Romesha will be recognized for valorous actions during a 13-hour firefight in Afghanistan on Oct. 3, 2009. According to CNN, Romesha and 52 other U.S. soldiers were attacked at Combat Outpost Keating by up to 400 Taliban fighters; eight soldiers died in the battle making it the deadliest day for the U.S. in the way that year, but Romesha assisted in pushing the Taliban out and taking the camp back. He is also expected to be a guest of first lady Michelle Obama at the President's State of the Union speech on Tuesday. He "will be the fourth living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan," says the White House. (USA Today)
