NY Gov Pushing for Strictest Ban on Assault Weapons

Empire State would become first to enact new gun laws after Sandy Hook shootings
Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York will on Wednesday push new gun laws that would make the Empire State the country’s most restrictive on assault weapons, and possibly the first to enact measures in the wake of the December school massacre in Newtown, Conn. Cuomo, a Democrat, is describing the state’s existing ban on assault weapons as having “more holes than Swiss cheese.” He wants to broaden the number of guns and bullet magazines restricted by the law, while also making it more difficult for gun manufacturers to tweak their products and get skate around the bans. Cuomo will outline his proposal in his State of the State address. (NY Times)
