Provision was changed to exempt religious insitutions from cost of contraception
On Wednesday, new and renewing health insurance plans must include a broad away of women’s preventative health services, including birth control, at no cost to the patient. The controversial provision, amended to exempt religious institutions from bearing the cost of their employees' contraception, levels the costs of basic women’s health services. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, on Tuesday, heralded the healthcare law provision, which she says will reduce the likelihood that women forgo care because of the cost. According to an HSS estimate, 47 million women are enrolled in health plans affected by the new rules. (National Public Radio)
