Obama Gives Himself Lifetime Secret Service Protection

Congressional legislation does away with limits for former commanders-in-chief
Like any president, Barack Obama is the subject of many threats; he’s just taken a step to ensure he successfully moves through his post-presidential life in top-notch safety. On Thursday, Obama signed a bill into law giving himself and former President George W. Bush lifetime Secret Service protection. The law reverses a mid-1990s measure that would have capped protection a 10 years after leaving office. The "Former Presidents Protection Act of 2012" grants all U.S. presidents lifetime Secret Service protection, including their spouses unless they remarry, and their children until the age of 16. The bill, introduced by a Republican congressman from South Carolina, will also impact any future ex-presidents. (BuzzFeed)
