Obama Demands Proposals on Gun Control by January

Has empaneled a new task force to do so
President Obama is demanding he receive "concrete" proposals on gun violence and reform from a new task force by January. In an announcement Wednesday, the POTUS said he asked Vice President Joe Biden "to lead an effort" to come up with plans that he would then push "without delay." Obama expressed support for certain gun measures, including the assault weapons ban, limits on ammunition, and closing a loophole which allowed gun buyers to elude background checks at gun shows. He said of the new task force, "This is a team that has a very specific task: to pull together real reforms, right now. Their task is going to be to sift through every good idea that's out there, and even take a look at some bad ideas before disposing of them." Obama said the proposals would make up part of his State of the Union address. (NBC)
