President urges people not to get complacent.
Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted a private fundraiser for President Barack Obama at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City on Tuesday.
The 100 donors in attendance paid $40,000 each to attend. Obama matched his supporters and paid $40,000 as well.
"I don't want people to be complacent, but I don't want people to be discouraged," Obama told the crowd. "We're on the brink of an election, but more importantly, we're on the brink of moving America in a direction where we're going to be more just, more fair."
He also joked that he and Jay-Z have a lot in common.
We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are," Obama laughed. "So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay."
