Obama Leads Romney Among Early Voters

They favored the President in 2008, too
President Barack Obama leads Republican challenger Mitt Romney among early voters by 59 percent to 31 percent, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling data. Though the two men are neck and neck in opinion polls, the president is favored by those who have already cast their ballots. Seven percent of those surveyed said they had already voted either in person or by mail. Early voting was a big part of Obama's victory over Republican John McCain in 2008 when roughly one in three voters cast a ballot before Election Day. Obama's campaign hopes the early voting efforts will help it weather a blitz of negative ads expected to saturate the airwaves in battleground states in the final weeks before November 6. (Reuters)
