The President says he wrestles with wanting to enjoy the game but knowing its pretty violent.

President Barack Obama admits he loves the sport of football but says he’s not quite sure whether he would let his son participate in the game. He said he’d “have to think long and hard” before letting him play because of the physical toll the game has on its athletes. In an interview with The New Republic, President Obama expressed his concern was moreso towards college players since NFL players have a union and are “well-compensated for the violence they do to their bodies.”

“You read some of these stories about college players who undergo some of these same problems with concussions and so forth and then have nothing to fall back on.” He says as a fan, he wrestles with wanting to enjoy the game and having to examine his conscious because of some of the violence.
