Package of Biden recommendations said to include 19 actions in president’s power
Today’s the deadline for Vice President Joe Biden to deliver the package of recommendations from his gun violence task force to President Obama’s desk. Biden was ahead of schedule yesterday, Obama said in a news conference Monday, having already produced recommendations that include expansions on background checks for gun purchases and at least 19 separate action the president could take without having to involved Congress. Lawmakers in Washington who were briefed on the plans said they expected Obama to use a public event on Wednesday to engage Congress on renewing the ban on assault weapons and high-capacity clips.
