Obama Edges Past Romney in August Fundraising

Candidates gear up for the final stretch of historic race for the White House
President Barack Obama turned things around last month in the fundraising department, pulling in more cash than his opponent, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Obama raised more than $114 million in August, while Romney raised just over $111 million. It’s the first time in four months that the president and Democrats have outraised the Republicans. In July, Obama raised $75 million. But campaign finance analysts point to Romney’s ability to stay above the $100 million mark and how the GOP candidate has more money on tap for the general election campaign than the president.
