President calls Newtown, Conn. shooting the worst day of his presidency
The good folks at NBC News scored an end-of-year interview with President Barack Obama, who took stock of a big year. Obama told Meet The Press moderator David Gregory that the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. earlier this month was the worst day of his presidency. “I think anybody who was up in Newtown, who talked to the parents, who talked to the families, understands that something fundamental in America has to change,” Obama said in the interview that aired Sunday. The president also discussed the status of the "fiscal cliff" negotiations in Washington and whether the country would indeed fail to avert going over the cliff. (New York Times)
