President Obama To Receive Israel Honor During Visit
4 months ago
He will be the first sitting U.S. president to receive the award
It seems President Barack Obama can’t go more than a few months without breaking more barriers or experiencing more “firsts.” What’s the latest? The nation’s first African American president will be the first sitting commander-in-chief to receive a special award from Israel. During his visit there next month, Obama will receive Presidential Medal of Distinction, according to a statement from Israeli President Shimon Peres. The award will be presented at an official state dinner. “Barack Obama is a true friend of the State of Israel, and has been since the beginning of his public life,” Peres’s statement said.
