More Republicans Agree to Break Stance on Anti-Tax Pledge

Twenty-year-old pledge isn't priority

Some Republicans are ready to break their long-standing pledge against raising taxes. Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, had gotten hundreds of Republicans to sign the anti-tax pledge, but now says it's just a few deserters; no House Republican has voted for a tax increase in 22 years. Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia said in a local interview, "I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge." Still, it's unclear if Republicans will raise taxes on the wealthy like President Obama wants, or simply go along with eliminating some loopholes and deductions to raise revenue. (NBC News)
