Party leaders walked away from “fiscal cliff” negotiations in salty moods

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was apparently fed up with his Capitol Hill colleagues after they’d reached a deal to avoid the “fiscal cliff.” According to Politico, Boehner reportedly pointed at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and said, “Go f**k yourself.” Reid responded, asking “What are you talking about?” And Boehner repeated, “Go f**k yourself.” The two were standing in the White House lobby during the verbal altercation, after Reid insulted Boehner in Senate floor remarks. Reid called Boehner’s leadership “a dictatorship” that does not allow “the vast majority of the House of Representative to get what they want.” Congress on Tuesday passed the fiscal deal compromise and sent it to White House for the president’s signature.
