Service members would need to have left military in the preview year honorably

The president and chief executive of Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest retailer, will on Tuesday announce a plan to hire any U.S. veteran who wants a job. William S. Simon will be in New York to make the announcement, which is said to be among the largest hiring commitments for veterans in history. The hiring program will officially begin on Memorial Day – May 27 of this year – and will lead to more than 100,000 new hires over the next five years, the length of Wal-Mart’s commitment. “Let’s be clear: Hiring a veteran can be one of the best decisions any of us can make,” Simon will say in his keynote speech to the National Retail Federation, according to prepared text. “These are leaders with discipline, training and passion for service.” The unemployment rate for U.S. veteran has been falling steadily in recent years, resting below 10 percent for all of 2012.
