Another Weiner Politician Caught in Sex Scandal
New Mexico Commissioner caught hanging in Philippines' red-light district
What is it with politicians named Weiner?
When photos of former U.S. Representative Anthony Wiener surfaced on twitter last year, the sexting scandal ultimately led to his resignation.
Now, a New Mexico politician with the same surname as the shamed former U.S. Representative faces similar scrutiny.
Michael Weiner, who serves as the Republican Bernalillo County Commissioner, was caught mingling in the Philippines’ red-light district when a professional photographer snapped a photo of him posing with prostitutes. The photographer was in Angeles City in the Philippines to document the thriving sex tourism industry there, the Daily Mail reported. And there Wiener was.
Wiener told Albuquerque station KOB—who first ran the story—that the photos are not what it appears. He said he was only touring the red-light district area with his fiancé to kill time during a flight layover to see his daughter.
‘‘We went there to take a look… walk up Walking Street and then went to the airport,” he said.
However, the KOB looked into Wiener’s flight schedules. They could not find a flight scheduled to Caticlan, where is daughter was.
The photographer said he heard Wiener making inappropriate jokes to the women – called ‘bar girls’ – suggesting that one of them touch his penis. Wiener denied the claim.
Wiener now faces considerable pressure to step down from his political position.
The Daily Mail reported that last year, Wiener was cleared in an investigation after a female staffer complained that he made sexually explicit comments to her, saying: ‘Did you know that the (County Commission) now has a Wiener and a Johnson on it?’
