Week of VP’s meetings on gun control wraps up, proposal expected Tuesday
The Obama administration may considering funding more police officers at public schools around the nations, a Democratic senators told the Washington Post on Thursday, as part of a broad anti-gun violence measure that will likely include universal background checks for gun owners. The school safety initiative would make federal funding available to school that want to higher police officer and adopt other surveillance techniques. That proposal is not nearly as far-reaching as the National Rifle Association’s proposal for armed guards in every American school. On Thursday, the NRA lashed out at the White House after attending one of the week’s idea meetings on gun control, calling the effort an “agenda to attack the Second Amendment.” Vice President Joe Biden, who has led the week’s meetings, says he will deliver a set of proposal to the President Obama desk on Tuesday.
