Women, Latinos and gays sought for top slots on Cabinet

Well, we can tell you off the bat President Barack Obama isn’t looking for blacks to fill those rolls, at least not according to today’s story about it from The Associated Press. Obama is said to be looking for women, Latinos and openly gay people for top slots at the departments of Commerce, Labor and Interior. He’s also looking for someone to run the White House budget office. The leading candidates for Commerce and the White House Office of Management and Budget are said to be women. That squares with the fact that Obama’s second term was won thanks to a broad coalition of women. Hispanics and other minorities played a large part, too. White House officials say that no final decisions have been made. If that’s true, it’s time we round up some resumes and help Obama make his Cabinet more diverse. Known anyone who could run an entire federal agency? (AP)
