Sherri Shepherd Breaks Down On The View, Admits "I Had A Lot Of Abortions"
Did she reveal too much?
On a recent episode of The View, the ladies discussed a federal judge in Texas who decided to uphold a law that would require abortion providers to show or describe an ultrasound of the fetus to the mothers before beginning the procedure.
While exchanging opinions, co-host Sherri Shepherd revealed that she had not just one abortion in the past, but many.
She said through tears, "I’m speaking as a girl who had a lot of abortions and I swear to God, if they had showed me a fetus, I probably wouldn't have, but I would have put my child in a lot of situations that wouldn’t have been good because I didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with having a child."
She also discussed how contradictory she feels the matter is, saying: "There are a lot of girls out there that have babies and then we say, 'We don't want you to have a baby!' But then they don't have the abortion, they see the fetus, they feel guilty, they go back home, but we let them go! We don't give them a planned parenthood to get any birth control so that they don't have any more. Then we want them to have the safety net of food stamps and welfare, but then we're the same ones that are going, 'You keep having these babies and you're not taking care of them!' We stop at the picket signs and we don't help them past that."
Whoopi Goldberg echoed Shepherd's sentiment, voicing her disapproval in the system because it doesn't include any offer of financial support for the mothers if they do so choose, after seeing the ultrasound, to keep the child.
Did Shepherd reveal too much or do you appreciate her honesty? Will this change your opinion of her for better or worse?
