Jay Z To The Dream: Dress For Grammy Success

Rapper shades poorly dressed music producer at music industry's biggest night

"Dress for the job you want, not the job you have," is essentially the message rapper Jay-Z sent music producer The Dream, as they, along with Frank Ocean, accepted the best rap/sung collaboration Grammy Award for "No Church In The Wild." The Dream dressed in all black and sported a shabby looking fitted baseball cap for the music industry's biggest night.   "I'd like to thank the swap meet for his hat," said Jay Z, who sported a tuxedo. Hear that message, son. Dress better for the Grammys.

Now Your Music Teacher Can Win A Grammy Award

Educator award will be presented for the first time next year, group says

Ever thought your grammar school music teacher deserved special recognition for how much you learned? Well, starting next year, the Record Academy will be giving Grammy Awards to educators. While you’re rooting for Nicki Minaj at a future Grammy ceremony, you can also pull for your high school band teacher. Of course, there is a very noble reason for the Grammys to offer this new award: “We’re dedicated to preserving the great music of the past, present and future,” said Recording Academy president Neil Portnow. “Music education is perhaps the most vital part of the Grammy Foundation’s mission.” Kindergarten through college teachers are eligible for the new annual award, which will be presented at a special ceremony that day before the big show. Students and colleagues will be able to nominate their teachers online. (AP)

Frank Ocean To Drop Charges Against Chris Brown

The two singers and their entourages reportedly clashed over a parking spot.

Following the scuffle between Frank Ocean, Chris Brown, and their entourages, Ocean announced that he plans to drop charges against Chris Brown. The R&B singer posted on his website the reason why: “As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit.”

The dispute was reportedly over a parking space outside the Westlake Studio in West Hollywood. Ocean later tweeted about the incident, claiming he was “jumped” by Brown and left with a hand injury. Brown remains on probation for attacking his then (and apparently current) girlfriend Rihanna. Ocean, who says he may not be able to play with two hands, will be performing during the Grammy Awards on February 10. (Contact Music)

Frank Ocean Confirms Grammy Performance

But the singer complains of a cut finger after a brawl with Chris Brown.

Singer-songwriter Frank Ocean has confirmed his performance at the Grammy Awards on Feb 10 in Los Angeles. The singer tweeted about the performance and the incident with Chris Brown. “Cut my finger now I can’t play w two hands at the grammys,” the singer wrote. Early this week, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department confirmed that Brown is under investigation for assault outside of a West Hollywood record studio. They said they responded to a report of six men fighting. It seems as though Chris Brown just can’t seem to keep his R&B soft hands to hisself.

Again?! Chris Brown Accused of Assaulting Frank Ocean

Police have not arrested either singer in alleged Hollywood brawl

This is getting old, Chris. As the Grammy Awards ceremony approaches, singer Chris Brown is making headlines again for alleged assault. You’ll remember that his attack on girlfriend Rihanna happened on the eve of the 2009 awards ceremony. This time one of the victims is reportedly Grammy nominee Frank Ocean, who tweeted about the incident. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday that Brown is under investigation for assault outside of a West Hollywood record studio. Deputies responded to a report of six men fighting late Sunday night. “The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim,” a sheriff’s spokesman said in a statement. No arrests were made and Brown was gone by the time deputies arrived. (Associated Press)
