The woman with the iconic voice behind the Bond films is expected to perform a tribute to 007.
The voice behind the iconic theme songs for the James Bond Films “Goldfinger,” “Diamonds are Forever” and “Moonraker,” will make her first appearance at this year’s Academy Awards, producers announced on Friday. Dame Shirley Bassey is slated to perform for the planned tribute to 007, celebrating 50 years on the big screen.
While Bassey’s career has spanned more than six decades, she never scored an Oscar for her Bond themes. The Adele-sung them song for last year’s Bond film, “Skyfall,” is the front-runner for original song at the Oscars. Bassey will join a list of performers including Adele, Norah Jones, and Barbara Streisand. The Oscars will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane and will air on Feb. 24 on ABC. (Los Angeles Times)
