Oscar Nominations 2013: ‘Lincoln’ Leads the Race

Child star, Quvenzhane Wallis, becomes the youngest best actress nominee ever.
The 2013 Oscar nominations have been announced with “Lincoln” leading the way. The biopic about the 16th president pulled 12 nominations, including best director for Steven Spielberg and best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis. Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi,” followed close behind with 11 nominations. Our brother Denzel Washington earned himself a spot on the best actor nominee list as well.
The Academy also named its youngest and eldest best actress nominees ever. “Beasts of the Southern Wild” star Quvenzhane Wallis, 9, received major recognition for her portrayal of the character Hushpuppy. “Amour” lead Emmanuelle Riva, 85, is also up for best actress.
