Beyonce Sings National Anthem Live, Ends Lip-Synching Drama

For the first time, Beyonce answers questions regarding her lip-synching at the Inauguration.

At a news conference for her upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, Beyonce launched into an impromptu performance—in her way, putting a rest to the news circus surrounding her Presidential Inauguration performance. Following her Inauguration performance, a whirlwind of reports began claiming she lip-synched and, at times, questioning her actual ability to sing the national anthem. Well, Bey laid the whole thing to rest when sung the “Star-Spangled Banner” live—without the help of a backing track.

When asked about the lip-synching situation, she admitted she used a backing track. “I am a perfectionist. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration],” she said. “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk.” She said she was very proud of her performance at Inauguration. However, she didn't give a clear answer about whether or not a backing track will be used for the Super Bowl.

She finished the song at the news conference, simply asking (rhetorically of course), “Any questions?”

Case Closed. (TMZ)

Beyonce has been sharing pictures of her halftime rehearsals and preparations on her Instagram as well. There aren’t many details on what exactly the halftime performance will entail but there are rumors swirling that a possible Destiny’s Child reunion is possible. The game will air on Feb. 3 on CBS.

Report: Beyonce Will Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show

The R&B diva has reportedly agreed to perform during the show's halftime program

Beyoncé will take the stage during halftime of the upcoming Super Bowl, according to the Associated Press.

The official announcement is set to be made Wednesday. Beyoncé's rep did not respond to requests for comment.

Last year's Super Bowl halftime show was headlined by Madonna, whose performance was more popular than the actual game. It was seen by 114 million people, a higher average than the game itself, which was seen by an estimated 111.3 million people, according to the Nielsen Co.

This would be Beyoncé's first halftime performance; she did sing the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 in her hometown of Houston.

It's been a good year for Mrs. Carter and her husband, Jay-Z. After giving birth to their first child, Blue Ivy, in January, the couple was named to the Forbes 15 most powerful couples in the world list, and recently the Jigga man headlined a set of shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn where the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA team he owns a stake in, play. Beyoncé joined him onstage for his final performance of an eight-night set.

Some are predicting that Jay-Z would be a part of any Beyoncé Super Bowl performance, but there is no official word yet either way.
